With a little help from my friends

One thing about dieting is that it can suck, especially if you are doing it on your own. It is always great to have someone to chat with about your progress, foods, or things you have learned. That is one of the reasons why I love MyFitnessPal. You can add friends or talk in the forums, as well as track what you eat and personalize everything to you. I love that!

Why diet on your own?

So I must say that there are always commercials airing for specific diets or diet programs and they say that they are more successful than dieting on your own. I don't believe that. Dieting on your own allows you to learn how to change your life, the way you eat, and the way that you live. If you are following one of those fad diets, what are you supposed to do once you reach your goal weight? You then have to learn how to eat on your own and the chances of failure can be very high.

New exercises at home

I do work out at home. I use a video game on the Nintendo Wii and sometimes dvds. I recently (VERY recently) bought a jump-rope. Honestly, I can barely do a minute of fast jump-roping without getting tired. That is a really good thing though because it can help me build up stamina and will burn a lot of calories. Jumping jacks also burn a lot of calories and they are both very good cardio.

Lo$ing weight

So not everyone is rich, so it can be difficult to lose weight or diet if you cannot afford fresh vegetables, fruit, etc. What I personally do is look for foods that are easy to make, somewhat cheap, and taste good. Also, pay attention to portion sizes!!! I will be posting pictures of the foods that I eat myself in the near future.

I plan on going to buy a jump rope in the very near future. I didn't realize just how many calories jump ropes and jumping jacks can burn. I am trying to find new ways to work out in the home without much equipment. I know that stairs are a great way to exercise, and get a nice butt.

First post-about me and the blog

First I will say that this blog is about my life and my weight-loss journey. I am a 24 year old female who started her journey at the weight of 252 pounds in June of 2011. The only reason as to why I started watching what I eat and exercising is because my doctor (who I saw for the first time in 4 yrs) told me to do so so that I don't get diabetes and high blood pressure. Right now I am at 230 pounds. I had a few months where I really struggled with my weight loss because of problems with stress and anxiety, but I have started working at it again.

I plan to get down to around 140 pounds, then see how I feel at that weight. I use the MyFitnessPal application and it really does help a lot. I also work out with a EA Active 2. According to MFP, I right now should eat 1,700 cals a day or less to lose the weight that I want to each week.
